When I reflect on the leaders I admire most, there’s a common thread that separates exceptional leaders from the average: emotional intelligence, often called EQ. Over my years in leadership, coaching, and working with teams, I’ve realized that technical skills and business acumen can only take you so far. It’s emotional intelligence—the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions and those of others—that truly defines leadership success.

In this article, I’ll share why EQ is critical for leadership, how it impacts team performance, and practical strategies to develop it. By the end, you’ll see why emotional intelligence isn’t just a “soft skill”—it’s a competitive advantage that transforms how you lead and how your team thrives.


Why Emotional Intelligence Matters in Leadership
